Fibre orientation distribution function (fODF) estimation is usually applied independently for each subject. This can lead to inconsistent fODF estimation across subjects complicating tract-level (i.e., fixel-based) analysis. Here we propose a hierarchical model to extract consistent tract-specific metrics across subjects that permit group comparisons and the development of more reliable biomarkers for disease and biological processes.
