How to Develop Digitalization Intelligence Solutions for Manufacturing Enterprises: A Case Study

This paper analyzes why and how traditional manufacturing enterprises follow different dominant logics to develop digitalization solutions for their users, to achieve value creation and capture. The study finds that: (1) based on a systematic analysis of user needs and user-sought value, manufacturing enterprises will systematically evaluate the value creation opportunities, barriers, and supports, and then make the decision to develop digitalization solutions; (2) manufacturing enterprises need to break the value creation barriers in the digitalization solutions around user needs and user-sought value, to achieve value creation; (3) manufacturing enterprises could adjust and change their value creation modes by transforming from network-based platform digitalization to scenario-based ecological digitalization, and continuously developing and providing digitalization solutions for their users. This study deepens the research on the digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises, providing insights to avoid the digital trap and overcome the digital paradox, ultimately enhancing value creation and capture capabilities.
