This work focuses on the detailed crystal structure and dielectric properties of LaCrO 3 and Ni-doped LaCrO 3 (LaCr[Formula: see text]Ni[Formula: see text]O[Formula: see text] compounds. Both the samples were synthesized via the auto-combustion route. The orthorhombic crystal structure with Pbnm space group of both the synthesized samples was confirmed using X-ray diffraction measurements. The average crystallite size of LaCr[Formula: see text]Ni[Formula: see text]O 3 compound is 52.71[Formula: see text]nm which was determined from the Debye Scherrer formula. In Ni-doped LaCrO 3 compound, the formation of Cr[Formula: see text] ions at the octahedral sites affects the dielectric properties. Enhancement in AC conductivity in LaCr[Formula: see text]Ni[Formula: see text]O 3 compound is due to the hopping of charge carriers in the material.
