The influence of the regional system on the urban forms of cities is discussed. The difference in scale, from the regional to the municipal level, reveals the need for greater connection between studies and the evaluation of influences across different scales and impacts. The research proposes a methodological framework using data collection and the construction of variables of interest, providing a useful tool for studying spatial effects on the aggregation of spatial interaction models. The empirical data collection in the Metropolitan Region of Serra Gaúcha (RMSG), composed of 14 municipalities with distinct urban forms, illustrates the research.
