The article seeks to understand sustainability related to production processes in traditional communities. For this, a field research was carried out in the Grilo Quilombola community, located in the city of Riachão do Bacamarte-PB. Using a systemic approach focused on the production of handcrafted ceramic artifacts, we sought to understand the production methods and techniques used by the community, which contributed to its development. Starting from a bibliographical review of systemic design, sustainability and traditional communities, the article presents the importance of valuing a rural quilombola community in its sustainable know-how.
