Controlling the equilibria of supramolecular systems is a subtle balance of the conditions used. The first is the related to the interaction between the molecules and the solvent (the solvation shell is represented by the crystalline spheres). Then, equilibria can also be controlled by external stimuli, both physical (temperature and electrons) and chemical (protons), thus perturbating the system in solution (additional spheres with a whitish halo).
