The application and effects of Quality Management Systems (QMS) in mechanical engineering research and development (R&D) are examined in this paper. In this study, the quality, efficacy, and efficiency of research methods and results are examined in relation to QMS enhancement. The study emphasizes the value of workforce involvement, process-based approaches, teamwork, measurement, customer focus, and top management commitment when identifying obstacles and best practices for incorporating QMS into mechanical engineering research and development. According to the results, a well-executed QMS may foster competitiveness, minimize errors, and produce higher-quality research. The analysis suggests measuring performance from several angles, including financial, internal process, customer, and innovation/learning, by employing a balanced scorecard approach. The findings of this study can guide the creation of more potent QMS plans for mechanical engineering R&D, thereby advancing the discipline.
