Introduction: In 1910 Hans Christian Jacobaeus of Sweden performed the rst laparoscopic operation in humans. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy, introduced in 1987, is now the preferred method for cholecystectomy. This surgical technique has been a milestone in the management of gall bladder disease by reducing postoperative pain, risk of surgical site infection and incisional hernia. Methods: 200 Patients of cholelithiasis at Dhiraj Hospital , Sumandeep Vidyapeeth, Pipariya, Gujarat with required eligibility criteria were considered in this study from July 2023 to June 2024. The patients were randomly selected in the operation theatre for gall bladder extraction via epigastric port (designated as Group-Awith n = 100) and gall bladder extraction via umbilical port (designated as Group-B with n = 100). Results: In the study conducted cases in which gallbladder was extracted from epigastric port, pain in epigastric port was signicantly higher than umbilical port (p value<0.05) . In this study on comparing VAS score for epigastric port in Group A and umbilical port in Group B showed signicantly higher VAS score in Group A epigastric port. Conclusions: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is the gold standard procedure for cholecystectomy for minimal postoperative morbidity over open procedure. Port site pain was most distressing complaint for patients following procedure. Here we have compared umbilical versus epigastric port for gallbladder extraction and associated VAS score for each group. Our study showed signicant pain reduction, when gallbladder was extracted from umbilical port without any other postoperative complication.
