The Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC), as a new type of load regulation equipment, is connected with specific types of loads in low-voltage substations to form an adjustable intelligent load cluster, thereby improving the optimization operation level of the distribution network. This paper introduces a distribution network optimization operation model containing UPQC as a load regulator, based on the branch power flow model, considering the relaxation method and insect foraging intelligent algorithm as solving methods. The distribution network optimization operation model proposed in this paper is based on an improved IEEE 33 node model. Simulation results show that UPQC can optimize the voltage offset level of the distribution network, reduce line losses, and lower the operating costs of distribution network operators by adjusting the low-voltage substation load. This optimized operation model has a certain reference value for reducing the voltage offset of the distribution network and reducing costs and losses.
