The Magical World of Music – An Interactive Lesson in Interest Activities – 1st Grade

“The Magical World of Music“ is an interactive lesson in First Grade Interest Activities. We chose the topic unanimously, because of our love for music, the innate musicality of the students and the magic that prevails in children’s world under the form of fairy tales, characters like Santa Claus and Grandma Martha, the ritual Narichane and others. “The Magical World of Music“ provides the opportunity to connect all these components and introduce students to the vast world of music. Taking into consideration the age characteristics and social experience of the first graders, we relied on a variety of activities and cross-curricular connections, through the implementation of which we could achieve the goals set by the lesson. Game activities, as a well-established approach to increasing students’ activity in all organizational forms of learning, education and socialization, were leading during the work process. New knowledge that first graders acquire include the impact of music on human emotions, the creation of music and its connection with folk traditions. They learn new terms. Knowledge and skills in Bulgarian language and literature, mathematics, fi ne arts, national studies, music are combined during the course of the lesson.
