In recent years, lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries, with high theoretical energy density and low cost, have become one of the most promising energy storage systems. However, the insulation of sulfur, the "shuttle effect" of polysulfides and volume expansion hinder their practical applications. MXenes have excellent electrical conductivity, high specific surface area, and a strong adsorption capacity for polysulfides, which helps to overcome the shortcomings of traditional Li-S batteries. In this paper, the structure, properties and preparation methods of MXenes are reviewed, and the applications of MXenes in the cathode, separator and anode of Li-S batteries are introduced. Finally, the future directions of MXenes in the field of Li-S batteries are prospected.
