Pierre Robin sequence (PRS) is characterized by facial abnormalities such as micrognathia, glossoptosis, and upper airway obstruction. Up to 90% of these children will present with cleft palate. Cleft palate is considered a common feature of PRS but is not a mandatory diagnostic characteristic. Premature diagnosis of PRS is prudent to plan and decide earlier on modes of airway management in infants with PRS, which, to date, remains a conundrum. We describe the challenges faced in managing an infant with PRS. We perform a narrative review of treatment options available for children with PRS and advocate for the role of early multidisciplinary teams in managing children with PRS.
