Blockchain technology (BCT) is now regarded as the next-generation information technology tool for sustainable growth in supply chain (SC) management. This study empirically examines the impact of blockchain technology applications on the supply chain performance of 258 manufacturing enterprises in China. The findings reveal that blockchain technology applications significantly enhance enterprise supply chain performance. The assimilation capacity of information technology (ITAC) exerts a positive moderating effect on the relationship between blockchain applications and enterprise supply chain performance. A high assimilation capacity of information technology amplifies the positive effect of blockchain technology on enterprise supply chain performance; conversely, a low assimilation capacity of information technology diminishes this positive effect. The findings have implications for blockchain adoption in supply chain literature.
