Recent theoretical works have evidenced that the presence of hydrogen atoms on tungsten surfaces increases the probability of incident atoms scattering at specular angles while reducing the associated energy loss. This feature, which is at odds with what is observed for total scattering, is rationalized here by using molecular dynamics with electronic friction for the W(100) and W(110) surfaces.
