The primary archives examined include the State Archive of the Russian Federation (GARF), the State Archive of Novosibirsk Region (GANO), the State Archive of Kuzbass (GAK) as well as its branch in Novokuznetsk. Key to this study are the funds of the Evacua-tion Council under the Council of People’s Commissars of the USSR, the Main Resettlement Directorate under the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR, the Department for Economic Arrangement of Evacuees and Resettlers under the Executive Committee of the Novosibirsk Regional Soviet of People’s Deputies, the Kemerovo Re-gional Committee of State Statistics, as well as documents from individual enterprises and organizations. These archives contain information related to the evacuation process, including reception and placement of evacuees across cities and districts of the region, issues of social and medical services, and employment. Par-ticular attention is given to the challenges faced by evacuated citizens and the methods employed to resolve them.
