As a result of mastering elective courses in physical culture and sports, in addition to promoting health and improving physical performance, students must maintain professional performance and monitor their physical condition. The article discusses the process of developing self-control skills and assessing one’s condition. For this purpose, a method of comparing objective and subjective indicators is used. Students of different sports specializations were offered control exercises for an objective assessment of physical parameters critical for the health of the body and were asked to compare them with their subjective assessment. Analysis of the results showed that as a result of the formative experiment, students achieved a reasonable convergence of subjective and objective assessments, which allows them to positively assess their ability to adequately perceive the state of their health and indicates that they have a real skill in self-control of physical condition.
