Cutaneous leishmaniasis mimicking psoriasis: a case report Key Clinical MessagePsoriasis and cutaneous leishmaniasis can present with similar scalp lesions, leading to misdiagnosis. We report a case of a 70-year-old male with a scalp lesion initially misdiagnosed as psoriasis due to his history of the condition.Examination revealed a plaque with purulent exudate, later diagnosed as cutaneous leishmaniasis.Relying solely on history and clinical presentation may not be sufficient for accurate diagnosis.Clinicians should be aware of the potential for cutaneous leishmaniasis to mimic psoriasis, particularly in unusual anatomical locations such as the scalp.
