Designing plastic materials derived from renewable sources with inherent recyclability is of great significance for sustainable plastics development. However, commonly used epoxy resin thermosets (ERTs) present significant challenges. Their highly cross-linked nature generally makes them non-recyclable, and their raw materials are typically derived from fossil-based bisphenol A. In a recent study published in Science, Barta et al. introduced a fully lignocellulose-derived epoxy resin (DGF/MBCA) with a novel structure that exhibited excellent properties. Additionally, an methanolysis-acetolysis tandem recycling strategy was developed to regenerate the pristine monomers.
