Pyrene is a well-known excellent organic luminescent molecule, but it suffers from π–π stacking-induced aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ) in the solid state. In our study, the encapsulation of a crown ether can significantly enhance the fluorescence of the pyrene in the solid state, resulting in a transformation from ACQ to aggregation-induced emission (AIE). Moreover, we also found that the original impure emission of the pyrene could be purified to a single emission. More information can be found in the Research Article by Q. Li and co-workers (DOI: 10.1002/chem.202400741).
