Aiming at the issue of degraded control performance of the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) in the servo system of a certain type of naval gun under high sea conditions, this paper proposes an improved sliding mode control strategy with an extended state observer. By introducing a new approaching rate, the high-frequency chattering problem in traditional sliding mode control is reduced. A disturbance observer is designed to estimate and compensate for motor parameter perturbations and load disturbances through feedforward compensation, further enhancing control accuracy. Finally, a simulation model is built using Matlab/Simulink to verify the superiority of the proposed control strategy, which is of great significance for improving the performance of the naval gun servo system.
