Introduction A Scientific Committee was established in 2019 at the Japan Society for Occupational Health (JSOH). The purpose of this study was to introduce the activities of the “Bridging the Gap Between Occupational Health Practice and Research ‘‘ subgroup in the Committee. Methods In 2021, a web survey for JSOH members was implemented to clarify issues in the research activities of occupational health (OH) practitioners. In 2022, three educational videos were created with the cooperation of the Japanese Occupational Health Research Network. In 2023, the videos were released on the JSOH website with a questionnaire for viewers. Result Responses were obtained from 629 members. We compared Young (287 people) in their 20s to 40s and Veteran (342 people) in their 50s and over. Approximately 98% of both groups answered that the research activities of OH practitioners were “meaningful” or “meaningful to some extent.” “Data handling” (Young: 16%, Veteran: 14%), “Statistics’‘ (Young: 14%, Veteran: 12%), and “Methods that make practice into research” (Young: 11%, Veteran: 13%) were among the top support requests to JSOH. Three videos were completed: “Research design from OH activities”, “How to formulate research hypotheses’‘, and “Practice of data utilization”. Thirty five video-viewers evaluated the videos as “easy to understand” (77%) and “helpful” (80%). Discussion The positive evaluation of the videos was confirmed. Further publicity of the videos will be considered. Conclusion We would like to express our gratitude to Mr. Kanamori, Mr. Watanabe, and Dr. Nishida for their cooperation.
