Introduction Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) refers to the air quality within and around buildings and structures, especially as it relates to the health and comfort of building occupants. Health effects from indoor air pollutants may be experienced soon after exposure or, possibly, years later. Methods Site Level Procedure for IAQ is prepared and updated periodically. Team comprising of OH & IH & IAQ Champion of that plant are involved in the monitoring of the parameters with total occupants around 1897 employees. Quantitative Analysis of the parameters such as cO2, CO, VOC, Temp, Rh is conducted with 3M EVM series monitor and interpretation of data with the standards (ASHRAE). Further swab sample collected from HVAC system.Qualitative Analysis done as per the health checklist in place to be filled by the occupant of the building in case of any complaints. Results and discussion and Interventions: Some abnormalities at few locations. After proper investigation root cause were identified and actions were taken for the same - Inlet of the fresh air in HVAC system increased, Dilution ventilation improved by providing more opening further improving cross ventilation and improving Indoor air quality, For bacterial growth the HVAC system was decontaminated with EPA approved surface disinfectant. No health complaints were reported by any of the occupant. Conclusion Understanding of the harmful effects induced by indoor air pollution will help us to take all the appropriate preventive measures to reduce the possible health risks. Through periodic IAQ monitoring and early intervention, the adverse health effects in the occupant can be prevented.
