The scenario of the occupational risks is evolving faster and faster. A fundamental aspect for an effective and ethical occupational health and safety (OHS) practice is a timely translation of the new results of research to OHS medical practice, and a promotion of new and updated initiatives and legislation in this field. Accordingly, the dissemination of the advancements of new occupational health and safety research into curricula of medical schools, the promotion of updated and harmonized standard of practice of occupational medicine specialists, and the transposition of new knowledge in the field of OHS into new initiatives and legislations are all fundamental steps for an enhanced occupational health practice. In this Special Session we present the example of the Occupational Medicine Section of the European Union of Medical Specialties (UEMS) as a model of translation applied in Europe.
