Lead is one of the ten chemicals of major public health concern, and has been linked to environmental degradation and significant deterioration of human health. Multiple age-group-specific harmful effects in children, pregnant women, and adults have been reported secondary to lead exposure. Even though lead-associated adverse effects have been recognized in different parts of the world, the key barrier is the least priority assigned to it by public health officials worldwide.
