Abstract Aiming to address the issue of elevated clutch surface temperature in hybrid transmission vehicles during large load power upshift, a comprehensive analysis is conducted on the impact of shifting stages on temperature rise. This paper analyzes the cause of excessive heat load of the clutch in the process of high torque power upshift, and the main factors affecting the production of slip work. Various calibration strategies are introduced to mitigate overheating problems during high torque power upshifts, followed by optimized calibration, and comparative real-world vehicle testing is also conducted. The test results demonstrate that this calibration method effectively resolves the challenge of excessive thermal load on different high-torque power upshift clutches while significantly enhancing drivability.
