Background: Computed tomography (CT) is an essential tool for the diagnosis, evaluation and predicting prognosis of gastrointestinal tumors. The objective of this study is to assess the clinical utility of dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) in diagnosis and characterization of gastric tumors. A total of 48 patients who underwent DECT were included in the study, 32 were biopsy proven Method: cases of gastric carcinoma and 16 had benign gastric wall lesions. Iodine concentrations (IC) were measured in arterial and portovenous phases. Normalized iodine concentration values were calculated and compared between the two groups. IC were signicantly higher in carcinom Results: a than benign group and in poorly differentiated compared to well-differentiated group. Quantitative iodine measurements by DECT can Conclusion: be used to accurately identify gastric cancer and assess the degree of tumor differentiation, thereby improving the preoperative staging and its clinical outcome.
