Loop-mediated isothermal amplification method was developed for the detection of Aeromonas hydrophila. Four primers were designed against the hemolysin gene of A. hydrophila and conditions were standardized for the amplification of DNA. This method amplified the A. hydrophila from nutrient broth, water and tissue samples. When compared, LAMP method was found to be more sensitive than PCR. The LAMP method was also highly specific and did not amplify DNA purified from other bacterial species. LAMP amplification was observed from the stored master-mix up to six weeks and thus, it can be successfully used as a kit for detection of A. hydrophila.
