The Draft Act on Personal Assistance, presented at the end of November 2023 by the President’s Chancellery, had been long awaited by the community of people with disabilities and their loved ones. Indeed, a systemic regulation of the assistance service as a public task funded from the state budget is one of the elements enabling people with disabilities to lead independent lives. The article aims to present the essence of the personal assistance service provided for in the bill as well as to attempt to evaluate the regulations adopted by the drafter. For now, this assessment will be very general, as a detailed, practical evaluation will, de facto, be possible only after the statute has been adopted and in force for at least a short time.
