The article is dedicated to the results of research on the integrity and completeness of the terminological system in the field of road traffic. The main shortcomings of the terminological system in the field of road traffic are identified and analyzed, such as the absence of standardized definitions for concepts denoted by corresponding terms, ambiguity of direct and indirect connections between concepts, and complete or partial inconsistency between terms and definitions with established requirements. Shortcomings are examined using examples of terms and definitions provided in regulatory acts and normative documents, including terminological and non-terminological standards. Particular attention is paid to the study and analysis of the generic concept of "road traffic" and basic terms such as "traffic control", "traffic management", "road safety", "roadway", "street" and "traffic control devices". A semantic analysis of the structure of the terms "traffic control", "traffic management", "traffic regulation" and their definitions based on interpretations in the Great Explanatory Dictionary of Modern Ukrainian Language is presented. This allowed to justify the connection between these terms, considering their significance from the perspective of project management. Based on the results of the conducted research, suggestions for improving and refining the terminological system in the field of road traffic are presented by expanding the terminological base, specifying certain terms and definitions, and aligning them with the relevant requirements of normative technique and DSTU 3966:2009. Changes to regulatory acts and normative documents such as the Law of Ukraine "On Road Traffic" and terminological standards of the series "Roads" and "Road Safety" are proposed. It is also suggested to develop and implement a separate terminological standard directly defining terms and concepts related to the organization of road traffic.
