Henryk Kuński, MD: doctor, organizer of sports and medical counseling, historian. An outstanding figure in Polish sports medicine

In November 2023, information about the death of the honorary member of PTMS, Dr. Henryk Kuński, and appropriate condolences were published on the websites of the Polish Society of Sports Medicine (PTMS) and the Medical University of Lodz, as well as in Gazeta Wyborcza and local dailies. We are convinced that it is worth introducing everyone interested in sports medicine, sports sciences and physical culture to the profile of an extremely active doctor and scientist who contributed to the development of these fields in Poland. Dr. Henryk Kuński, MD, was a very efficient organizer of sports and medical counseling, a doctor and guardian of professional athletes, including: national swimming team, a tireless promoter of health training and... a marathon runner. Dr Kuński was also a talented historian documenting the most important events in the history of sports medicine in Poland and presenting the most distinguished figures of our colleagues operating in the field of sports medicine since the end of World War I.
