Odonata larval species occupying allochthonous leaf-litter benthic habitats in pool biotopes of an upland Saraca stream show greater larval abundance and density per species, as well as a stable species composition under partial impoundment (a gauging weir) compared to full stream flow. Larval species have a log-series distribution, where most individuals belong to a few species, while rare species have few individuals. The index of specific diversity of larvae is relatively uniform under partial impoundment, but varies markedly under full stream flow with changing benthic colonisation. Leaf-detritus larval species are more easily dislocated compared to ‘burrowing’ species.
