The article deals with the analysis of linguo-sociocultulal competence in speech in the process of teaching future English philologists in Ukrainian and foreign scientific literature. It is identified that linguo-sociocultural competence is a complex and multi-component concept. Based on the analysis of Ukrainian and foreign literature, it is demonstrated that there is no single term for linguo-sociocultural competence, which substantiates the relevance of this topic. The components of linguosociocultural competence are characterized as part of foreign language communicative competence. The necessity of using a competency-based approach in teaching future philologists in higher education institutions is justified. The relevance of teaching linguo-sociocultural competence in higher education institutions is determined, particularly considering globalization processes and increasing demands in the labour market.
