Non-sinusoidal voltage in electrical networks is one of the problems faced in the field of power quality. In non-sinusoidal operation modes in electrical networks, in addition to active power losses at the fundamental voltage frequency, active power losses occur at frequencies that are multiples of the fundamental frequency, corresponding to the harmonic components of voltages and currents from the 2nd to the 40th. Additional harmonic active power losses increase losses in electrical networks, thereby inflicting economic damage for electricity supplying and consuming companies. The article presents a literature review on the topic under consideration, based on which a methodological approach is formulated for assessing additional active power losses in overhead power lines. The power quality indicators characterizing the harmonic distortion of voltage measured at electric power quality monitoring points of two 110 kV power lines supplying power to JSC Aleksandrovsky Mine are analyzed. Additional active power losses in these lines are determined, and a comparative analysis of losses at the fundamental frequency and at harmonic frequencies is carried out. Based on the assessment of losses at harmonic frequencies, possible additional active energy losses for one year in the 110 kV lines supplying power to JSC Aleksandrovsky Mine and in all 110 kV power lines in the electrical networks of Russia are predicted.
