A method for the silver(I)‐catalyzed phosphonation of electron‐deficient 2‐arylbenzo[ d ]thiazoles has been developed. This strategy is highly regioselective for obtaining para ‐selective phosphonation products by cross‐dehydrogenation coupling with good functional group tolerance and requires no prefunctionalization. This facile approach provides a practical route for synthesizing arylphosphine oxides. Mechanistic studies show that the para ‐phosphonation occurs via a radical process.
