In modern realities, information security of data posted on the Internet is a pressing problem. Today, the number of offenses in the IT sector is increasing, especially the theft of information from both individuals and legal entities. This problem is of great importance for government agencies, most of whose data constitutes both commercial and state secrets, which in turn require a special level and method of protection from the state. This article examines the main elements of legal regulation of information security of government institutions, analyzes legislative acts in the area under consideration, and also pays special attention to the principles and mechanisms for ensuring information security. The issue of ensuring conditions for the implementation of an information security system for state organizations should not only have its permission at the legislative level, but also be under the control of international organizations, since it is interstate cooperation that will allow the formation of an effective policy for the protection of information of a state nature.
