Background China’s barrier-free environment construction lacks attention to people with autism. Domestic social groups are now committed to advocating for a barrier-free social integration. Method Twenty-two staff members work with autism were interviewed for this study to describe the barrier-free home. Then, the study analyzed them with social integration theory. Results Social groups use activities to advocate for accessibility. But, the advocacy lacks core values and focuses too little on social integration. It is hard to ‘break the circle’. Accessibility is tied to the level of economic and social development. There is a big gap between regions. The system for accessibility is missing and the scene for integration is broken. Conclusions Barrier-free environment constructionfor autistic people should be built at three levels: spatial, organisational and cultural, leading to social integration.
