This paper studies the daily work life of urban women in Stalingrad/Volgograd in the 1950s-1960s, which at the time was the largest industrial region on the Lower Volga. What makes the study relevant is the use of women’s autodocumentary sources (diaries and oral memoirs), which reveal the sensual and emotional components of everyday life. The paper aims to identify the main features of women’s daily work life and to find out the level of women’s labor protection at enterprises in a nonmetropolitan area. The study concludes that the low level of protection of women’s labor, low wages burdened by taxes, and difficult communal and living conditions forced many women workers to adapt to the realities of life in the city being reborn after the war.
