Abstract We demonstrate the generation of a watt-level continuous wave deep ultraviolet laser at 261nm by efficient frequency doubling of a blue-diode-pumped Pr:YLF laser at 522nm for the first time. With a novel coating method and LD collimating method, a TEM00 mode deep UV laser radiation at 261nm with an output power of 2.53W was obtained. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on a watt-level Pr:YLF laser operating at 261nm.
