Peru's Boluarte will focus on China relations

Significance China is Peru’s most important trading partner and its main source of foreign investment. Closer relations with China represent one of the few foreign policy successes of the otherwise embattled Boluarte government. China has remained silent amid other foreign criticisms of corruption and human rights problems in Peru. Impacts The Boluarte visit will seek to minimise tensions over the administration of the Chancay port. President Xi Jinping’s visit to Lima in November will do little to resuscitate Boluarte’s political fortunes. Copper exports to China will continue to increase both in volume and value.
