Stepped spillway is one of the oldest drop structures used in the construction of small dams Because of its simple form, its effectiveness as an energy dissipater. With this in regard the project aims to present the hydraulic design of stepped spillway for Ungated Garudeshwar Weir located at 12.10 km downstream of Sardar Sarovar Dam which is analyzed and modeled on Ansys 19.0 software. The proposed flow over the dam is analyzed for ogee spillways, results will be presented through this paper. The present discharge and the downstream velocities are obtained from the concerned authorities, which are validated through the model proposed in this paper. Primarily ANSYS models are developed for 8, 10 and 12 no’s of steps to study the characteristics of flow that will be achieved and the velocity calculations will be recorded. Depending on the no of steps and the energy dissipation achieved relationship is achieved for the flow pattern and recommendations are proposed. The findings of the study shows that the model investigated showed approximately the same downstream velocities as it is observed on the actual dam site. Thus, this study will serve as a reference for the researches to study the characteristics of flow, the velocities of the flow etc. through Ansys software.
