Topologically Optimized Graded Foams In article number 2301798, Ernesto Di Maio and co-workers show that combining topology optimization and gas foaming produces multi-graded polymeric foams with tailored density distribution. 3D density maps, optimized according to a specific objective function, are produced through gas foaming in the blink of an eye. Results demonstrate a 210% stiffness increase over the uniform counterparts in three-point bending load conditions. Alternatively, same performances are attained with 25% less mass, toward a more sustainable material usage.
