The inlet/outlet is one of the most important parts of a pumped storage power station. Improper designs will cause problems such as suction vortex and increased head loss, which will affect the operation efficiency of the power station. This paper takes the inlet/outlet of a pumped storage power station in Zhejiang Province as an example for research. The upper reservoir inlet/outlet takes itself and the surrounding terrain, gully, and dam as the research object, and conducts physical model tests; the lower reservoir inlet and outlet take itself and the surrounding stone factory and other mountain terrain as the research object, and conduct numerical simulation studies. On this basis, the rationality of the scheme is explored and the optimization scheme is found, which can be used as a reference for similar engineering designers.
