Background: Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is a well-established treatment option for superficial esophageal cancer. However, insufficient sedation can make ESD difficult to perform due to patient movement. While appropriate sedation is essential, there is a lack of consensus on the ideal method for esophageal ESD. This retrospective, single-arm study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a combined dexmedetomidine (DEX) and pethidine sedation regimen for esophageal ESD.
