Ocean waves are a factor with an important role and significance affecting economic activities at sea and in coastal areas.Accurately forecasting waves, especially big waves during typhoons, will minimize human risks as well as economic damage.Currently, innovating hydrometeorological forecasting technology in general and hydrometeorological forecasting in particular in the hydrometeorological industry is the right direction to improve forecast quality. The DNORA toolkit is a technology recently transferred by the Norway Meteorological Institute to Viet Nam Meteorological and Hydrological Administration. In this study, the team introduced the DNORA toolkit and some results of DNORA application to forecast waves in Damrey typhoon in 2017.The results show that the simulated wave heights tend to be higher than the actual measurements and RMSE evaluation index ranges from 0.67-0.75m.
