This study was conducted to zone the adaptability of plantation forests in the semi-submerged areas of the Srok Phu Mieng hydroelectric reservoir in Binh Phuoc Province, based on field survey results and analyses of water quality, soil quality using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP).The study identified four main factors affecting the adaptability of the plants: inundation time, inundation depth, terrain slope, and soil layer depth, with impact coefficients of 0.30, 0.27, 0.19, and 0.13, respectively.Other factors such as altitude, water quality, and soil quality were found to have negligible impacts (≤ 0.05) on the adaptability of the plantation forests in the study area. The results also showed that Melaleuca and yellow cheesewood are more adaptable than Acacia, with adaptable areas of 23.15 ha compared to only 1.53 ha for Acacia. This research provides insights into the importance of environmental factors and the adaptability of plantation forests in semisubmerged reservoir areas, thereby aiding relevant agencies in planning the exploitation, use, and sustainable development of plantation forests in the semi-submerged areas of irrigation and hydroelectric reservoirs in Binh Phuoc province in particular, and other areas of Vietnam in general.
