An Empirical Study on the Effects of Peer Assessment and Automatic Writing Evaluation on College Students' English Writing Ability

With the advancement of technology and the innovation of teaching mode, the automatic writing evaluation system has gradually been valued as a tool to assist English writing practice.In view of this, this study aims to explore the impact of the teaching strategy of combining peer assessment and automatic writing evaluation system on college students' English writing ability, and to analyze the problems that arise in the process of peer assessment as well as the affecting factors.The results show that peer assessment is not significant in improving college students' English writing ability, but there is a wide acceptance among students.Peer assessment improves their own initiative and motivation to a great extent in English writing.However, there are still problems such as traditional teaching concepts and lack of effective feedback in English writing pedagogy, therefore, it is suggested that traditional teaching mode be transformed and peer assessment be improved to enhance students' writing competence.
