Depression is a common clinical mental disorder, its pathogenesis is complex and many factors have not been fully clarified. In the field of basic research, it is shown that immune abnormalities and neuroinflammatory response are closely related to depression. The inflammatory process is implicated in the pathophysiology of depression. It is now well established that dysregulation of both the innate and adaptive immune systems occur in depressed patients and hinder a favorable prognosis. At present, western medicine is mostly used in clinical treatment, with a good utilization rate, but the adverse reactions are more obvious. Therefore, more and more scholars turn their attention to the field of traditional Chinese medicine and apply the theory of traditional Chinese medicine to clinical practice. Traditional Chinese medicine has high safety treatment for depression and few adverse reactions, which has unique advantages. In this paper, on the basis of neuroimmunology mechanism, from the four aspects of the treatment of traditional Chinese medicine, combing the intervention through the TCM mechanism and clinical effect, provide theoretical and scientific basis for TCM prevention and treatment of inflammatory depression, in order to provide characteristic methods for the clinical treatment of depression and optimization ideas, to better guide and serve the clinical.
