Currently, and as it has been for many years, left ventricular (LV) ejection fraction (LVEF) remains the most important and clinically relevant parameter for clinical decision-making and for detecting cancer therapyrelated cardiac dysfunction (CTRCD). 1 In this respect, according to the 2022 European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Guidelines on CTRCD, 1 in any patient with an LVEF < 50% before starting cancer therapy, the risk/benefit of cardiotoxic anticancer treatment, particularly with anthracyclines, should be evaluated, and cardioprotective strategies should be considered. 1 Likewise, in any patient with an induced LVEF < 50% after anthracycline therapy, the use of this anticancer therapy should be interrupted.
