The social inclusion of second-generation immigrants is a significant issue confronting the US society. Social media is increasingly viewed as a useful resource that promotes participation in society. In this paper, we explain how social media use can remedy social isolation, cultural dissonance, and identity crises, contributing to the well-being and citizenship of second-generation immigrants. This paper moves beyond the conventional discussion on the digital divide to explore what people can achieve with social media. We draw our findings from collecting and analyzing data from second generation immigrants about the use of social media to highlight its impact. This research contributes to theory and practice.
