Experimental study demonstrates superior acidic oxygen reduction reaction activity in atomically precise Pt23 nanoclusters, highlighting multifunctional catalytic potential.
The largest organic-ligand-protected Pt nanoclusters with atomic precision were reported by Lingwen Liao, Jun Yang, and Zhikun Wu et al. in their Research Article (e202402565). The as-obtained Pt23 nanoclusters via a mixture ligand protecting strategy exhibit superior catalytic activity for the oxygen reduction reaction under acidic conditions compared to commercial Pt/C catalysts, without requiring calcination or other treatments. An excellent photothermal conversion efficiency was also revealed, indicating great potential for applications of such materials.
